Welcome to my web site about Pike fishing.

This web site was originally created as a resource for Portabotes and their use for Pike fishing. The name Hechtjäger (Pike Hunter) was chosen because it was the name I registered my Portabote under.

There is only so much one can write about Portabotes, good though they are, so the site has expanded with perhaps equal content now covering the actual methods of my Pike fishing, most recently fly fishing. This takes the form of tackle reviews, basic information and other pages written in almost a blog style.

New developments or techniques regarding Porta-botes will still be included of course.

I have included introductions to the relevant angling bodies such as the the Pike Angler’s Club of Great Britain (PAC), of which I’m the current national committee Treasurer, the Pike Fly Fishing Association (PFFA) and the Lure Angler’s Society (LAS).

Over the last few years I have  built up a fair bit of experience Pike fishing, especially from a Portabote so if you have any questions then feel free to ask. If I don’t know the answer myself I’ll certainly be able to point you in the right direction.

I’d like to make it clear that the information written here is purely my personal view and understanding, so please treat it as such. I do not claim to be all knowing and there will certainly be alternative  approaches and techniques. What I write about simply works for me personally.

I unfortunately don’t have the time to demonstrate the Porta-bote as some have asked, due to PAC and work commitments. However I’m always happy to reply to emails should your questions not be answered elsewhere in this web site.
