I have been fishing in some shape or form since a young age and started to specifically target Pike some years later. Pike are susceptible to mishandling / bad angling practices so it was important for me when I started out to learn the correct way to do things. I knew no other Pike anglers at the time so I read all the books that I could and joined the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain (PAC).
I cannot recommend joining the PAC enough. It has many perks including the opportunity to meet some good people, learn new angling skills and techniques, fish privileged access events and help protect Pike and Pike Angling as a sport. Having recently served on the PAC national committee, I’ve seen first hand the work that gets done and how important the organisation is for all Pike anglers regardless of discipline.
Membership also includes the excellent Pikelines magazine.
The PAC has produced some very useful data sheets covering many aspects of Pike fishing such as fish handling, bait fishing and an introduction to lure fishing.
